I know the author's full name
If you know the author's full name (e.g. Malcolm Gladwell), you can search by the author's name in the Quick Search Tab. Use the sample search below to find a book by Malcolm Gladwell.
- Select "Author (last name, first name) in the right-side menu.
- Type the author's last name, then a comma (","), then the first name. e.g. Gladwell, Malcolm.
- Click "Search":
This search is normally found on the Quick Search tab:
I know part of the author's name
If you know part of the author's name, but aren't sure about the full name, try searching under "Author Words" in the Advanced Search tab. In the search box below, try looking for books by "LaFave".
- Type the the part of the name you know in the box below.
- Choose "Author Words" in the right-hand dropdown menu. In the example below, this has already been chosen.
- Choose "all of these words" in the left-hand dropdown menu.
- Click "Search":
Note: this search will include first names, last names, and co-author names.
If you aren't sure how to spell part of an author's name, choose "any of these words" in the dropdown menu. For common names, this may give hundreds or thousands of results. for instance, if you were searching for "De Bono", and used "any of these words", you would get all authors with "De" and all authors with "Bono" in their names.
