Other Sources
There are two other tools you can use to find books and other library resources: the I-Share Catalog and the library's Interlibrary Loan Service.
With I-Share, you can request items online or visit libraries in person to check items out using your official school id.
If you can't find what you need at the IIT Libraries or through I-Share, the Interlibrary Loan program can help you get books from other libraries.

I know the whole title
If you know the whole title of your book, you can use "Quick Search" to find it. Use the sample search below to find the book Contemporary Management.
- Type the title into the "Search for" box.
- Change the drop-down menu to "Title" (it's the only choice here, but the catalog offers more choices).
- Click "Search":
Note: If your title starts with "A", "An", or "The", you should leave out those words. For example, if you are searching or "The Iliad", just search for "Iliad".
This search is normally found on the Quick Search tab:
I know part of the title
If you only know part of the title of you want to find, search in the "Advanced Search" tab. Try searching in the box below for a Nutshell on public international law using these words: public international law nutshell.
- Type the words you know in the box below.
- Choose "Title Words" in the right-hand dropdown menu. In the example below, this has already been chosen.
- Choose "all of these words" in the left-hand dropdown menu.
- Click "Search".
There are three options you may want to try with advanced title searches.
1. "All of these Words" - the best way to find a specific title without having to worry about how you enter it - the order of the words is not important and you don't have to leave out "The", "An", or "A".
2. "Any of these Words" - this will bring up all titles that include even one of the words, so be careful. It can easily give thousands of titles. For example, if you did public international law nutshell, you would see every Nutshell book the library has, not to mention all the books with "law"in the title.
3. "These words as a phrase" - if you know part of a title and it uses very common words, this can help you find the right item quickly by leaving out other combinations of the same title words.
